William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare (1564–1616) was an actor, playwright, and shareholder in the Lord Chamberlain's Men (later the King's Men) who produced roughly thirty-seven plays and one hundred fifty-four sonnets over a career of about twenty-five years. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, married Anne Hathaway at eighteen, and by his early thirties had become London's most successful dramatist.
