Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison (1931–2019) was an American novelist, essayist, and Nobel laureate who transformed the landscape of American literature. Born Chloe Ardelia Wofford in Lorain, Ohio, she worked as an editor at Random House—where she championed Black writers—before publishing her first novel, The Bluest Eye, at age thirty-nine.
