John le Carré
John le Carre, born David John Moore Cornwell (1931–2020), was a British novelist who transformed the spy thriller from pulp entertainment into serious literature. Educated at the University of Bern, Lincoln College Oxford, he taught at Eton before joining the British Foreign Office, serving in MI5 and MI6 during the Cold War.
