Donna Tartt
Donna Tartt (born 1963) is an American novelist known for her meticulous craftsmanship and the long gestation periods between her books. Raised in Grenada, Mississippi, she began writing at an early age and attended the University of Mississippi before transferring to Bennington College in Vermont, where she studied classics with the writer and teacher Claude Fredericks -- an experience that would directly inspire The Secret History. At Bennington, she formed friendships with Bret Easton Ellis and Jonathan Lethem, becoming part of a remarkable generation of American fiction writers.
