A. A. Milne (1882–1956) was an English author, playwright, and poet who achieved his greatest fame through the stories he wrote for his son, Christopher Robin Milne. Born in London and educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge, he served as an intelligence officer in World War I—an experience that left him a committed pacifist.
