Zora Neale Hurston

Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960) was a novelist, folklorist, and anthropologist who grew up in Eatonville, Florida—one of the first all-Black incorporated municipalities in the United States. She studied under Franz Boas at Columbia, traveled the South collecting folklore, and became a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance.
