Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965) was a British statesman, soldier, journalist, and author who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during its darkest and finest hours. Born into the aristocratic Spencer-Churchill family at Blenheim Palace, he saw combat in Cuba, India, Sudan, and South Africa before entering Parliament in 1900. His leadership during World War II, rallying Britain through the Blitz with his extraordinary oratory, made him one of the most consequential figures of the twentieth century.
