Jonathan Franzen
Jonathan Franzen (born 1959) is an American novelist and essayist who has become one of the most prominent and debated literary figures of his generation. Raised in Webster Groves, Missouri, he studied German at Swarthmore College and spent a year at the Freie Universitat in Berlin before embarking on a literary career that would make him, with the publication of The Corrections in 2001, the reluctant face of the ambitious American social novel.
