Jack Kerouac

Jack Kerouac (1922–1969) was the voice of the Beat Generation, a French-Canadian American who grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, and exploded onto the literary scene with On the Road in 1957. He coined the term 'Beat' and pioneered 'spontaneous prose'—a technique of writing in long, unedited bursts that mimicked the improvisation of jazz.
